Rong Chun's Plan of Demonstration Rejected and Banned

A planned demonstration by Rong Chun, the president of Cambodian Confederation of Unions (CCU), and expected to have around 150 participants, held on June 12, 2009 in front of ex-office of the National Assembly was barred and blocked by municipal authority. The protest was unsuccessful to run as scheduled, but it was replaced by a press conference at its office in Chamkarmorn district. It aimed to demand all Thai troops to leave from Cambodian territory and asked Thai government to pay compensation on Preah Vihear temple as Thai prime minister paid its official visit in Cambodia on June 12, 2009. However Mr. Rong Chhun had sent the letter to inform the Municipality on June 10, 2009.

On the morning of June 12, there were military police, interior police and defend police standing all the ways from ex-office of National Assembly to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the new National Assembly, where the march was planned to do.
