Mu Sochua Barred from IPU Regional Seminar

Repeated things, once again Mrs. Mu Sochua, SRP lawmaker was prevented from attending the “Regional Seminar on the Role of Parliaments in Promoting Peaceful and Sustainable Societies in South East Asia,” at Inter-Continental Hotel on March 9, 2009. The seminar was co-sponsored by the National Assembly, the Senate and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU); and the objective was as well for elected members of parliament from South East Asia to discuss issues that were prevalent in post-war societies and on conflict resolutions and the role of Parliament during and after conflict.

However, MP Mu Sochua was stopped by the chief security of the National Assembly as she proceeded to walk into the seminar room. She had an invitation letter from the National Assembly, did sign in but was not provided a name tag. Therefore, the chief security said that he had received a strict order not to allow anyone without a name tag in.
