Police Suppressed around 3,000 Workers in Dangkor

On 25 June 2009, approximately 3000 garment factory workers held demonstration in order to demand for changing director of a union was suppressed with electronic shock and gun by 100 Chom Chao district police officers at Sky High Garment factory. During the protest, at least 20 people was beaten and hurt. The other 19 had seriously been physically assaulted with their electric buttons before they were arrested and sent to Dangkor police office in order to ask them to stop leading workers to continually protest against the factory.

According to the photos provided by some other workers in the act, some female workers were also injured by those anti-riot police or intervention group and some men were broken their head both back and front.

Related to the arrest of those 19 workers, there was some intervention of rights groups (Licadho and Adhoc) at the district police office so that they could negotiate in order to release the arrested.

After the negotiation, those19 arrested were allowed to leave with the rights group after they had been questionned and promised not to protest again. Those 19 were sent to Licadho office where they could have medical checked and retreated.
