Chea Mony Might Face Disinformation and Incitement

On August 21, 2009 the government planned to sue Chea Mony, the president of the Free Trade Union stressed the government could be involved in planning of the murder of his elder brother six years ago. Mr. Chea Vichea, his brother, was killed on January 22, 2003 on Paster road near Lanka Pagoda and near the news stall.

Kiev Kangarith, the government’s spokesman and the Information minister said that the government and the Ministry of Interior were asking the government’s lawyer to study and investigate the case and evidence to file a complaint against Chea Mony for disinformation. Whereas Kiev Sopheak, the Interior spokesman stated that the ministry had its own rights to sue Chea Mony for disinformation and incitement.

Before that, on August 17, 2009 Chea Mony stressed in the hearing of the case of Born Samnang and Sok Sam Oeun that the government could be involved in planning of the murder of Chea Vichea. Mr. Chuan Sun Leng, the judge repeatedly asked him about that, but he did not change the answer.

Chea Mony also said that Born Samnang and Sok Sam Oeun were only fake perpetrators. It was not so difficult because the witness was still alive. Even though Hok Lundy died, but Heng Pao was still survived; so Heng Pao could be a key person to find out the fact.

On August 29, 2009 the government spokesman Kiev Kagnarith said Saturday that the government and Interior Ministry had dropped its attempt to sue Chea Mony for disinformation and incitement. Prime Minister Hun Sen ordered the government’s lawyer and Interior Ministry to stop this attempt because he thought this might be Chea Mony’s feeling of losing his brother.
