On the morning of 30 April 2009, the publisher and editor-in chief of the Seri Pheap Thmey (the New Liberty News) were questioned by Municipal Court Deputy Prosecutor Plang Sophal in connection with a defamation and misinformation case filed by Mr. Thong Uy Pang, the publisher of Koh Santipheap News.
