Journalists of the New Liberty News Summoned for Questioning

On the morning of 30 April 2009, the publisher and editor-in chief of the Seri Pheap Thmey (the New Liberty News) were questioned by Municipal Court Deputy Prosecutor Plang Sophal in connection with a defamation and misinformation case filed by Mr. Thong Uy Pang, the publisher of Koh Santipheap News. The complaint filed against Mr. Lim Khihong, the publisher and Sek Radi, editor in chief was made due an article in the New Liberty News claimed that Koh Santipheap’s publisher, Thong Uy Pang and his wife were denied an entry visa to the United States in 2003 because American officials believed they were involved in human trafficking. React to this news, Mr. Thang Uy Pang was very angry and anxious about this article because it badly insulted him without accurate evidence.
