Lawmakers, Activists and Journalists Blocked Access to Border Marker 270

On June 3, 2010, a group of more than 20 opposition lawmakers, accompanied by communal and district councilors, made a trip to investigate the issues raised by a request for intervention from villagers affected by Border Marker 270 in Takeo province. Also participating in the trip were local and international journalists who sought to determine whether marker 270 had been planted onto villagers’ farmland and encroached on Cambodian territory.

All visitors and journalists, however, were banned from visiting the location and their access was blocked by a group of armed forces deployed to the area in question - Agnchanh village, Chey Chok commun, Borei Chulsa district, Takeo province.
