Complaint against Y Seng Khuor Company in Sihanouk

On 15 December 2008, Y Seng Khuor Ltd. Company came in and grabbed villagers land of about 289.60 hectares in Preik Toal and Preik Prah villages, Teuk Thla commune, Prey Nub district, Sihanouk province. The encroachment affected on 133 families. On 8 January 2009, those affected people filed a complaint with the communal and district chief asking them to help solve the dispute. As a result, they found that the solution was unacceptable. At the meantime, the company still continued bulldozing the land even though those farmers had requested to suspend its activity until just and fair solution was made. In addition the residents were intimidated and banned from entering their farmland. The issue became even more serious. Therefore on August 11, 2009 villager representatives came to Phnom Penh in order to lodge the complaint with the national government to intervene the case. As a result, the authority accepted the complaint. The solution, however, has not been made yet.
