Sam Rainsy Sentenced to 2 Years in Prision over Territory Protection

On January 27, 2010 at about 8:00 am the Svay Rieng Provincial Court opened a hearing to sentence Mr. Sam Rainsy in absentia and 2 suspected villagers in Koh Kban Kandal village, Samrong commune, Chantrea district, Svay Rieng province for the accusation of incitement of race discrimination and intentionally damaging public property; via the border marker 185.

Visit to Cam-Viet Borders Blocked

On December 14, 2009 about 20 Sam Rainsy Party lawmakers, accompanied by some 100 local villagers from Chantrea and Romdual district paid their visit at the Cambodian-Vietnamese border, but they were banned and blocked on the street by police and authorities there.

Mu Sochua Barred from IPU Regional Seminar

Repeated things, once again Mrs. Mu Sochua, SRP lawmaker was prevented from attending the “Regional Seminar on the Role of Parliaments in Promoting Peaceful and Sustainable Societies in South East Asia,” at Inter-Continental Hotel on March 9, 2009. The seminar was co-sponsored by the National Assembly, the Senate and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU); and the objective was as well for elected members of parliament from South East Asia to discuss issues that were prevalent in post-war societies and on conflict resolutions and the role of Parliament during and after conflict.

Mu Sochua Barred from Event

On Thursday, February 5, 2009 Mrs. Mu Sochua, SRP lawmaker was banned by some Hun Sen’s bodyguard unit from her way to participate in a government sponsored forum on “How Cambodia will deal with the global economic crisis”.
